...Something Going On Today?
Monday, January 19, 2009 at 7:27PM This is the first Inauguration I have ever missed. I'm kind of hazy on my first one, as my parents were then in the process of taking me home from the hospital at the age of five days, I'm fairly sure that Thing One on their priority list wasn't an insta-civics lesson.
This time, I slept right through the oath, the speech, the benediction and the parade. When you've been awake for 22.5 of the previous 24 hours, this tends to happen.
More, including incriminating pictures, later.

Did you check out Michelle's Inaugural Ball gown? The white one that made her look like a mummy with cotton balls stuck to it? Out of all the gowns in the universe, what a choice....
Honestly, I am a huge Obama fan and I was delighted with the whole Inauguration, but I did have a bit of a giggle when he and Michelle had their first dance at the Neighborhood Ball. I think we've finally found the only black man in history who CAN'T dance! Hilarious! But I think he was a very good sport, both about that and about the parade, which actually included people pushing dolled up LAWNMOWERS. Is this America the ridiculous or what?
You missed a very uplifting experience, and I'm not the guy who normally appreciates uplifting experiences. I'm as close to an ultracon as you can get without making a 6-figure-plus income, but I was still moved more than once by PEBO's (oops - guess that's now PBO) words.
I'm hoping for the best, but still keeping the freezer stocked!
Can't wait to hear your stories MB. I'm counting on you :) We totally missed it too.
We had several folks here congratulate us on our new president yesterday. Lots of folks here envy how smoothly we change governments in the US.

I saw the whole thing thanks to the magic of CNN.com... and the act that my boss was outta town ;-)
The most hilarious part for me was the benediction—may the yellow be mellow?? :-D
I consider myself to be apolitical for the most part. I watched tv all day yesterday and I was moved - inspired, elated, teary, overwhelmed. His speech was incredible and I am hopeful that his term(s) in office will start us on a journey to new greatness. I am so happy that we have a down to earth, loving, happy family in the White House.
P.S. I thought Obama's dancing was great. And her dress was fabulous!
I watched the swearings in on mute at work....actually we turned the volume up just enough to hear Obama make his Solemn Oath. At least I'm pretty sure he managed to get all the words in there...
After all the hype about Obama choosing to use the same Bible that President Lincoln used, I never ever got a slight glimpse it! You can always count on the media to get peoples' hopes up only to dash them. Couldn't they follow through with the historical theme of the day and give just a tiny itty bitty little bit of camera time for the historical Lincoln Bible? Ah, but no, no one thought of the Bible yesterday.

Well, Jeremiah, at least they did show the Bible Biden used to make his oath—which looked like Hogwart's book of spells, according to Stephen Colbert ;-)
Am eagerly awaiting your critique of the >gack< inaugural "poem", o wise one.
