Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 4:02AM Dear Mary Beth: What do you like best about hailing from Cincinnati?
Well... for one thing, you sigh a lot.

Well, I would sigh if I could get enough air into my lungs through these inflamed sinuses. Darned Cincinnati/Ohio River Valley pollen trough!
Two words for you: GOOOOOOOOOOO RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, couldn't help myself. New coach, new quarterback, and we did AWESOME! Well, mostly awesome. I think Todd Heap should change him name to Ocho Seis or maybe Deep Six...as he looked like he hadn't touched a football in a year... oh that's right, he hasn't. If I ruled the world, as cute as Heap is, he'd be FARRED. (That's 'fired' Baltimore style.)
ANYWAY, as long as you don't become a Deadskins fan, I'll still read your column. :D ;)
That would hurt if I actually gave two craps about the Bengals right now. First stop populating the team with felons, and then maybe I'll watch them again.
We refer to them as the Bungles or a less nice variation... the felony rate is astonishing! I am glad that the NFL is finally (as of last year really) cracking down on behaviour issues. It's about darn time!!!
College football is a pleasing alternative, for the most part.
It is obvious to me that the best thing about being from Cincinnati is Skyline Chili. Even if it is originally from Kentucky.
Mais non! Unless I've read the back of my menu incorrectly, Skyline began in Price Hill, on the West Side. People could see the city skyline from the restaurant; hence the name. The recipie is Greek-- the origin of the founder's family.
The first Skyline is right over the river, technically in Kentucky. The waitress there wasn't very nice, but it was still something of a pilgrimage for me. It's the one in Covington, if I recall.
Holy snappers, I miss that place. Look, I'll have a nice plate of sushi for you here (I am in Okinawa, where grocery store sushi shoots leagues past even fancy American sushi) and you have a 3-way, a cheese coney (with everything), and a mt dew for me. And a chilito, if you are still hungry.
It was indeed Price Hill: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyline_Chili. Every time I go home for a visit, I bring back a canned supply, but brother, it ain't the same, is it? I miss me a fresh cheese coney myself.
You stay safe over there. I'd send you a chilito if I could, but I don't think it'd look very appetizing by the time it got to you.
