Vacations for Newly Married People
Friday, June 27, 2008 at 6:24AM Josh The Pilot and I are off to celebrate his birthday and our first wedding anniversary by spending three hours in the company of timeshare salespeople. Because we love each other, that's why.
The freebies include a two-night stay at a hotel which includes the following on its "amenities" list: "Adjacent to Golden Corral and Cracker Barrel Country Store." A Crack House AND a Golden Corral? Well, now. They might just have color TV and air conditioning, too! Free HBO! Or... ice!
I'll stop here, lest I build myself up for disappointment.

Ahhhh...the timeshare phase of marriage! I remember those days too. My wife and I went Charleston, SC, Virginia Beach, and the mac daddy...a cruise!! Nothing like being trapped on a boat with timeshare salesmen...
Happy anniversary to you both, and happy birthday to JTP!

Did you actually marry on his birthday? That's one way to make sure the husband never forgets his anniversary!
Wow! How time does fly.
Have a great time you guys!
This is also the vacation of necessity for parents with more than one child in college... unless you count sitting on the couch all week watching Stargate reruns a vacation.
It's been a year already??? Congratulations! I imagine it's not Massanutten this time... where are you headed???
If you ever want a gorgeous place to (not) timeshare, go to Gatlinburg, TN. It's SO pretty. And quaint. I'm sure there's a Cracker Barrel or 6 nearby...oh and Dollywood's in Pigeon Forge about 10 minutes away.
Happy Birthday, JTP! :)
Ditto, RPJ!
Hope you have lots of fun :-)
Congratulations on your first anniversary!
Enjoy the timeshare experience while you can... my parents were going to do the vacation/timeshare thing themselves and were turned down because they are too old!!
I live in Central-ish WI, full of little towns... driving through one of about 10,000 I noticed a slightly run-down hotel, truly, boasting its "color TVs and telephones in every room"!
