I'm generating enough new-allergen snot to sink an aircraft carrier, but just in time comes a reminder that back at The Swamp, Northern Edition, life carries on as usual.

But my very favorite part is that the news item, filed by the site under "Local and Regional Headlines," is completely indistinguishable from the links posted as "News of the Strange." What's it like to live in Florida?...That.

MB, you're living in Florida, for heaven's sake. According to my brother, who spent one miserable year down there, Florida grows Giant Ragweed, among other allergen-spewing plants. And molds. In fact, Florida should add allergens to its list of state products. After that one year, my brother moved back here to Michigan and became a big fan of winter sports. I expect him to take up dog-sled racing any time now.

As I, myself, am of the "if it grows, I'm allergic to it" school, you have my deepest sympathy. And, by the way, I've lurked for awhile now, so it's time to say I really enjoy your writing.
